Twas the 9th of May
as I glanced at the news
on the Yahoo home page
and was slightly confused
To see a headline
Of a punker gone lit
What I saw when I clicked
Almost made me (lose it?)
Wow, Dr. Frank from the Mr. T Experience, my favorite college band and then some, has written a best selling teen book!! (King Dork by Frank Portman)
The Mr. T Experience used to open for Green Day Green Day used to open for Mr. T Experience at the Berkeley Square in Berkeley. It was always kind of cool how they were around pre-post-punk, never really got famous, but they still play. From what I read in USA Today’s blog, it sounds like the book came about pretty randomly – which should be an inspiration to any wanna be publisher.
OK then another friend who has been working part time so he can write plays part time got a rave review from the Washington Post on his first big production in Washington D.C. – Let X.
Which reminds me: He told me about this crazy nationwide 48-hour film contest where everyone participating needs to follow the same rules, but you get together a crew. It rolls up with local contests like the World Series to a national winner. Tell me if you add it to your list!
